IT Guy Extraordinaire
mike < at > kishmish < dot > com

It would be so much easier to just ask someone else to write something about me, but then in fairness I couldn’t call it my blog could I? If I figure out something better to write on this page, or if I find a ghostwriter willing to keep the secret I’ll put more details in here.

I’m a local IT guy here in Syracuse, NY. On some days I’m your run of the mill Systems Administrator.  Other days I’m an IT Consultant or IT Archtect.  “IT Guy Extraordinaire” is much easier to say.

In my daily life at with work I spend half of my time supporting customer networks, servers and desktops. The rest of my time is spent maintaining and improving our in-house datacenter where we host Terminal, mail, web and other types of systems – some shared some dedicated to customers.  95% of these systems are running on the VMware ESX hypervisor. My daily life is filled with VMware, MS Exchange, Server 2003/2008, Ubuntu, Apache and SPAM SPAM and more SPAM.

Some of my customers are high maintenance in that they have always received such a high level of service from me and my colleagues, that’s all they know so that’s what they have always come to expect. We try to keep the belief that “Technology is only as good as the person using it.” We try to instill this in our customers, friends and other colleagues. It can be a challenge, but it can make a world of difference.
